Property Survey
A property survey is a map prepared by a licensed surveyor that shows a parcel's exact boundary lines along with the structures, driveways, and features on it. It establishes where one property ends and the next begins, and it can reveal an encroachment where a structure crosses a line or an easement giving someone a right to use part of the land. Surveys are especially useful with older Rhode Island and Massachusetts properties, where boundaries were set long ago and fences or additions may not match the recorded lines. Lenders or title companies sometimes require one, and buyers may order one for peace of mind before closing. A survey does not assess a home's condition or value. Instead it answers what you actually own and what rights and overlaps affect that land.
